{"id":759,"date":"2021-05-11T20:24:18","date_gmt":"2021-05-12T00:24:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amis-st-camille.org\/les-amis-de-la-saint-camille\/"},"modified":"2021-08-27T10:06:58","modified_gmt":"2021-08-27T14:06:58","slug":"friends-of-the-saint-camille","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.amis-st-camille.org\/en\/about\/friends-of-the-saint-camille\/","title":{"rendered":"Les Amis de la Saint-Camille (Friends of the Saint-Camille)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"texte-intro\">More than 1,400 Friends in Canada (mostly in Qu\u00e9bec) are members of this charitable organization, which is legally recognized by Corporation Canada. <\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">About ten people volunteer to serve in different roles within the Board of Directors. We carry out activities to raise awareness of the Saint-Camille\u2019s work in a variety of settings: schools and universities, parishes, religious communities, businesses; we talk about the Saint-Camille in colloquia as well as informal kitchen and neighbourhood meetings. We do so with two objectives in mind:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>To inform and sensitize<\/strong> <\/strong>the Canadian population to the conditions that people with mental illness experience in sub-Saharan Africa, and to the contemporary solution that the Saint-Camille offers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>To develop a network<\/strong> of people, organizations and partners who can provide three kinds of resources to Gr\u00e9goire Ahongbonon and his team:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Training<\/strong>: staff training, interns, support and treatment professionals<\/li><li><strong>Material resources and services <\/strong>: medical equipment, medications, medical supplies, well drilling, construction or renovation of buildings<\/li><li><strong>Financial resources<\/strong>: for construction projects, local staff training, planting of vegetable gardens, agricultural and social development<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>All donations are forwarded in full to the Saint-Camille-de-Lellis in Africa<\/strong>.<br><br>The experience in management, philanthropy, financing and mental health treatment of the members of the Board of Directors provides added value that allows them to better support the Saint-Camille.
